MEETING ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SPEAKER:  Prior to the meeting - give a short introduction to the Toastmaster so that you will be properly introduced.  Give your book to your Speech Evaluator.  When you are introduced move directly to the lectern and shake hands with the Toastmaster.  When you have completed your speech do not leave the lectern until the Toastmaster returns and shakes your hand.  After the meeting make sure to give your book to the Vice President of Education so that it can be signed.  For more detail information refer to your Communication and Leadership Manual.

EVALUATOR:  Prior to the meeting - pick up your speakers book so that you will be able to explain your role and the objectives of speech that you will be evaluating when called upon by the Toastmaster.  Later in the meeting you will be called upon by the General Evaluator to give your evaluation of the speaker.  After the meeting return the speaker book. TIMER:  Prior to the meeting - pick up the timer's equipment from the Sgt-at-Arms.  You will be called upon to explain your role in timing the speaker, evaluators, and table topics.  The Timer should be positioned in the room so that the speaker can see the colored cards.  After the meeting return the timer's equipment to the Sgt-at-Arms. TABLE TOPICS MASTER:  Prior to the meeting - pick up the table topics cards from the Sgt-at-Arms.  After the last speech you will be introduced by the Toastmaster, move directly to the lectern and shake hands with the Toastmaster.  As a general rule do not call on those who gave speeches or their evaluators, everyone is fair game.  When you have completed the table topics do not leave the lectern until the Toastmaster returns and shakes your hand.  After the meeting return the table topics cards to the Sgt-at-Arms. GENERAL EVALUATOR:  Prior to the meeting - you should talk briefly with all the members of the who have roles for the evening.  After the speeches and table topics you will be introduced by the Table Topic Master, move directly to the lectern and shake hands with the Table Topics Master.  When you have completed your portion of the meeting, return the meeting back to the President, do not leave the lectern until the President returns and shakes your hand. TOASTMASTER:  Prior to the meeting - briefly meet with all those that you will be introducing for the evening and find out if there are any special requirements.  Pick up the speaker's introductions.  Remember you are in control of the meeting.  You will be introduced by the President, move directly to the lectern and shake hands with the President.  Do not leave the lectern until the person you introduced has come to the lectern and you have shaken hands. GRAMMARIAN:  It is the job of the Grammarian to listen to everyone during the meeting and record any awkward use or misuse of the language.  You will be called upon by the Toastmaster to give the Word of the Day.  Later in the meeting you will be called upon by the General Evaluator to give your report.  For more detail information refer to your Communication and Leadership Manual.

AH COUNTER:  It is the job of the Ah Counter to listen to everyone during the meeting and record their ah's, but's, so's, um's, er's, I - I, you know's, all those filler words.  Later in the meeting you will be called upon by the General Evaluator to give your report.
