Toastmaster: Facilitates the club meeting
and keeps it on time. Introduces functionaries, Speakers, Table Topics
Master and General Evaluator.
Timer: Monitors time. Competent
Communicator speech times
vary from 4 to 10 minutes depending on what type of speech. Advanced
Communicator speeches
may be longer or shorter. Table Topics 1 to 2 minutes. Speech
Evaluators 2 to 3 minutes. Our club uses a light system located on the
back wall to indicate time.
Ah Counter: Keeps track of all the um's,
ah's, and other filler words like; "and", "but", "you know", "like", "so", etc.
of each person who speaks throughout the meeting. These types of words are often
referred to as "thinking words".
Grammarian: Monitors good and poor use of
the English language and those who use the word of the day.
Evaluators: Are assigned to give an oral and
written evaluation of the speaker they have been assigned to evaluate.
Table Topics Master: Conducts the "Table
Topics Session". Selects members other than the Speakers and Evaluators to
answer questions which enables them to practice impromptu speaking.
General Evaluator: Calls for reports from;
Evaluators, Timer, Ah Counter, Grammarian and .Sgt-at- Arms. Then gives an overall report
on the conduct of the meeting.
